Udzungwa National Park

2025-04-15

Uzawa National Park is located in eastern Tanzania, in a mountain range of more than a dozen forested mountains, it is the largest and most biodiverse of them.

These mountains, collectively known as the East Arc Mountains, are also known as "Africas Galapagos" because of their abundance of native flora and fauna (most notably the beautiful African violet). They are home to a well-developed network of forest trails that attract many hikers.

With over 400 species of birds, the rich avian resources attract many ornithologists. Of the six primates recorded, the Ilinja red-ruffed macaque and the Sanjeg crowned white-lipped macaque (discovered in 1979) are not found anywhere else in the world.

With the deepening of scientific exploration, there is no doubt that there will be more treasures waiting to be discovered here.

Location: Located directly south of Mikumi, between Luaha National Park and the Selous Hunting Reserve. From Mikumi, you can take a day trip to visit Uzumbwa National Park.

Things to do: Hiking.

Time: Stays range from one day to several days, depending on how much you want to hike.

Animals: 11 species of primates, buffalo, elephant, more than 400 species of birds, three native reptiles (a gecko, a skink and a chameleon), millipedes, a tree frog and more than 70 species of spiders.
