Cultural Visits

In some ways, certain Tanzanian tribes resemble the Amish, resisting modernization and largely preserving traditional customs.

The Hazzabi Tribe: Nestled near Lake Eja, this small community still lives by hunting and gathering. They speak a language with clicks (like the distinctive click sounds). Visitors can explore their way, and if youre interested, theyll show you how to make fire without matches or take you hunting with traditional bows and arrows.

The Maasai Tribe: As East Africas most iconic cultural group, the Maasai people are renowned as nomadic cattle herders. Women adorn themselves with vibrant handmade bead necklaces, while men wear distinctive traditional attire and often showcase their remarkable jumping skills to visitors. You can witness how they construct homes using clay, branches, and cow dung, and even sing along with local children during these cultural experiences.
